Dr. Adil K. Al-Tamimi

Adil K. Al-Tamimi is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the American University of Sharjah and Director of the Institute of Materials Systems (IMS). He has been with AUS since August 2000. Prior to this, he was a lecturer (assistant professor) with University of Paisley in Scotland (1997-2000). He was Founding Member of the International Advanced Concrete and Masonry Centre at the same university (1991-1997) with a long outreach history with UK construction industries. After graduation, he worked for three years as a site engineer with the National Company of Contracts & Construction. Dr. Al-Tamimi has a PhD in Civil Engineering (Structures) and an MSc in Civil Engineering (Structures), both from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK (1990 and 1987, respectively). He earned a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq, in 1977. He is registered with many professional engineering societies such the Concrete Society-UK and the UAE Society of Engineers, and is a Fellow of the Association of Building Engineers.

Dr. Imad Al Jamal

Dr. Imad Al Jamal is the Vice Chairman of the Higher Technical Consultative Committee of the UAE Contractors’ Association, and the Managing Director of the International Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Centre (IDRAAC). Dr. Al Jamal has considerable experience that he has gained throughout the last 28 years. Through his personal and professional contacts with both government and private institutions such as ADNOC, ADCO, ADGAS of Abu Dhabi, and DEC, EGPC and EPPCO of Dubai, as well as with various government departments and private bodies in Sharjah, he has a unique perspective into the legislative issues of the UAE.

Dr. Al Jamal has extensive professional experience from working with major local and international construction and engineering companies, as well as contract consultancies, where he was involved in major project aspects such as quantity surveying, risk analyses, and cost claim/defense preparation. His current post at IDRAAC reflects his promotion of dispute avoidance, management and resolution through negotiation and arbitration.

Ahmad Kabra

Abdul Hasib

Abdul Hasib has over 20 years’ experience gained in Concrete Technology, RMC, Material testing, repair and maintenance of industrial plants & housing colonies, Condition Surveys, assessment, investigations & remediation of concrete deterioration, and damage etc. Presently managing Analysis, Review and Approvals of concrete materials, submittals, specifications also managing internal support for projects related to Thermal Modelling for massive concrete pours, concrete materials, chloride diffusion modelling, Cathodic protection etc for crucial exposure conditions as part of Halcrow’s Asset Management and Engineering expertise Team based in Middle East.

Abdul Hasib started his career as a site engineer in Bombay India, on a building with Roman style architectural project, worked with Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Bombay in various capacities. As In-charge Construction QA at Godrej, he has handled Optimising cement, admixture, mixed designs for commercial RMC supply to wide range of projects, non Destructive testing of concrete, in-house material testing laboratory and development, promotion & use of eco-friendly materials like Fly ash / GGBS.

Abdul Hasib has work with Pulverised fuel ash (PFA) & GGBS and utilised it as a resource material in various construction projects. He is a CII certified Internal Auditor for ISO Quality and Environment Management Systems.

Dr Hassanein is currently the Technical Manager for the Asset Management and Engineering group of Halcrow in the Middle East since 2006 providing specialised services in the areas of concrete technology, testing and assessment of infrastructure, cathodic protection, corrosion monitoring, and corrosion management. Prior to joining Halcrow, he was working in UK as a Business/ Operations Manager for Capcis Ltd., an international materials consultancy and specialist-testing group, providing integrity and asset management services to the Oil and Gas, Utility and Infrastructure sectors. Dr Hassanein has helped to increase the awareness of durability issues in the Gulf region and worked as a material specialist in many prestigious projects including the Dubai Metro project, Palm Jumeriah and Palm Jebel Ali bridge projects, Raha Beach development in Abu Dhabi, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, Jubail 2 in Saudi Arabia and the Lusial development in Doha, Qatar.

Dr Mohammed Dulaimi is a senior academic with an extensive experience in research in construction management and project management. Dr Dulaimi started his career in the construction industry working as structural designer and quantity surveyor. Dr Dulaimi has spent more than 20 years in academia working in universities in the UK, Singapore and UAE developing a strong record in winning research grants and leading international research teams. Dr Dulaimi has published extensively in internationally refereed journals and conferences with over 70 papers published worldwide. His main area of expertise and interest are management of innovation, leadership, project management, sustainable development and procurement. He has a significant international profile giving presentations, keynote speeches, seminars and short courses in USA, UK, Europe, Middle East and the South East of Asia. Dr Dulaimi is seconded from BUiD for part of his time to lead ADICOE research effort. Dulaimi has served a juror for Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award and Cityscape AD 2008. Dulaimi is also the coordinator the awareness programme and is a member of the executive committee of the Emirates Energy Award.

John Bennett

Mr. John Bennett is currently the Aviation Construction Director of the Supervision Committee for the Expansion of the Abu Dhabi International Airport. He is responsible for construction of the expansion programs at Abu Dhabi International, Al Ain International and Abu Dhabi City Airports. Between 1987 and present, John has served as a Construction Manager for Hong Kong International Airport, managed expansions at John F. Kennedy and Harrisburg International airports plus, participated in expansions and renovations at Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Orlando International Airports. He was also the Buildings Construction Manager for the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation during this period. Sarfraz H. Dairkee

A LEED Accredited Professional, he is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Building Commissioning Professional and Pumping System Assessment Tool Specialist, with over 25 years hands on multidisciplinary experience.
Beginning his career as a Marine Engineer on board ships, he switched to Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Systems in the early 80's and was instrumental in launching India's first commercial Windmill, and in developing the one of the first prototypes of a Solar Steam Pump and Vapor Absorption Refrigerator, and computer programs for AC&R simulation and heat load calculations, and Pump selection in early 80's in India.
He has been in the UAE for over 15 years working on pumping systems, desalination, filtration and sewage treatment plants and automation and control. For the last few years he has initiated energy audits, commissioning, and Green Building services.
He is one of the founding board members of the Emirates Green Building Council and also heads the Technical Sub Committee of Water Efficiency.
A Senior Member of the Association of Energy Engineers, ASHRAE and International Desalination Association he is currently working at MAHY Khoory & Co. as General Manager, Corporate Development & Engineering.
